Brainstorming about fishing net and waste recycling

Last Tuesday 15 September we participated together with Healthy Seas, United Wadden harbors, CIV Den Oever, KIMO Nederland and Bek & Verburg in the first session of a new work group consisting of various stakeholders from the fishing industry, fishing harbors, fishing net manufacturers and innovative recycling entrepreneurs. During this brainstorming session, we will jointly examine how the value chain of plastics from fishing nets can be further extended.

This day we were guests on the fishing boat WR130 - Johanna II in the fishing harbor of Den Oever where the fisherman Jan Rotgans took very good care of us. It was a very inspiring day and the results are already very promising, soon you will hear more about our passionate passion to sustainably reuse our collected fishing nets.

Since 2013 our organization is involved in Healthy Seas, an organization we founded together with Aquafil and Star Sock. Within Healthy Seas, we strive to make the majority of our salvaged fishing nets embark on a new journey by transforming them into new consumer products.
